Standard jewellery sizes
The sizes the trade works with every day, in inches and centimetres, including the Indian bangle size system.
Necklace lengths
| Style | Inches | Centimetres | Where it sits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Collar | up to 14 in | up to 35 cm | Sits high on the neck |
| Choker | 14–16 in | 35–40 cm | At the base of the neck |
| Princess | about 18 in | about 45 cm | On the collarbone; the most common length |
| Matinee | 20–24 in | 50–60 cm | Above the bust |
| Opera | 26–34 in | 66–86 cm | At or below the bust; can be doubled |
| Rope / lariat | 36 in and longer | 90 cm and longer | Doubled or knotted |
Standard chain lengths
Metric markets sell rounded lengths (40, 45, 50 cm); 1 inch = 2.54 cm, so 18 in is 45.7 cm exactly.
Bracelet lengths
A comfortable bracelet is the wrist measurement plus about 1.5–2 cm (½–¾ in).

Earring posts
Posts for pierced ears must meet the EU nickel limit for piercings (see Plating and compliance standards).
Trade conventions, not legal standards: makers differ slightly, so agree sizes in millimetres on every order. Ring sizes have their own converter.

Agree sizes in millimetres
These are trade conventions, not legal standards, and makers differ a little. On orders, state lengths and diameters in millimetres or centimetres as well as the size name.
