Trade fairs, conferences, seminars and courses for the gem and jewellery trade, by place and month. Choose where you are and how far you would travel; add any event to your calendar.
Every event in the calendar, by month. Events within your distance are in ruby.
Nothing appears on the page without a person approving it. Three sources feed one review queue in the CMS; the server does the collecting and checking on a schedule, so nobody runs anything by hand.
A scheduled job reads the calendar feeds and event pages that organisers, associations, labs and schools publish, where their terms allow it. New or changed dates become suggestions.
Fairs that follow a pattern (Bangkok in February and September, Hong Kong in March and September) get their next edition created as "dates to be confirmed".
An organiser fills in a form with the dates, venue and official link. A moderator checks it against the official page, as with job posts.
Approve, edit or dismiss each suggestion. Approved events go live with their source link; dismissed ones are remembered so they are not suggested again.
What the review queue could look like. The suggestions below are examples to show the workflow, not real announcements.
